May Thoughts

HAPPY MAY! The school year is winding down, and summer is fast approaching.

I made the unfortunate mistake of doing an internet search for a new bathing suit. I'm not sure how the algorithms work, but all I see now are swimsuits, diets, and workout advertisements. As if to purchase a new bathing suit, I also need to buy into a summer body workout plan. As if?

What the hell is a “Summer Body” anyway? I didn't grow up with this term, and thank goodness it wasn't a thing. But now, we are inundated with “summer body” campaigns everywhere we turn.

I have big plans for the warm summer days coming, and none of them consist of restricting my diet or forcing a workout that I don’t love and enjoy. Instead, I’ll be working on my summer body by being strong, mobile, and flexible enough to do everything I have planned.

It doesn't require a summer body to surf, kayak, play on the beach, hike, or have adventures. You simply prepare for summer adventures by treating your mind and body well. You could adopt a plan that supports your emotional health. You can give yourself permission to make you a priority and schedule that class, workshop, or a simple walk with friends.

You already have a Summer Body, and I am so excited to hear about your summer body's activities in the next few months. So cheers to having balance, joy, adventures, and peace with the bodies we already have.

Be Well and Balanced.

With gratitude,
Elease
