June Thoughts
June - named after the Roman goddess Juno - is a month to celebrate life. Historically June was a time to gather, come together in bonds of friendship or marriage, and celebrate midsummer and the summer solstice. This time of year honored by all manner of belief and ideology is when in the northern hemisphere we revel in warm weather and long days.
We have waited for this time to come, and with it the promise of health and freedom from pandemic restrictions. Anne Bradstreet said in Meditations Divine and Moral, “If we had no winter the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
Over the past 15 months we have made many changes, some of which were challenging but necessary. We learned from the changes we were required to make, and have seamlessly incorporated them into our new routine. At MBDY + be we have come to enjoy moving and dancing on our outdoor pavilion. We have felt the benefit of smaller indoor class capacities. We have learned to clean and sanitize effectively and more efficiently. And most importantly - we have a new appreciation for every opportunity to come together as a community in real space and time.
On June 15th the State of California will reopen, lifting all restrictions. We have long awaited this day and we are ready to move forward into the new normal. However, we are not ready to abandon all of what we have learned, or the additions we have made to our safe space. We will continue to hold our most popular classes outdoors, as well as expand the use of our outdoor pavilion. Who knew that we would learn to love it so much? We will continue to cap our barre and COREcentric classes at 12 participants to ensure a comfortable experience. We will continue to keep our doors open whenever possible to ensure maximum air flow, and our UVC light and HEPA filtration system will be in use during all classes. We will also continue to use antiviral cleaning products and have hand sanitizer always available.
We will be adding more classes to the schedule as needed. Our community is growing and I want to accommodate everyone who has a desire to MBDY + be. Please check the schedule regularly and stay connected through social media as we announce events, workshops and new classes.
I am overwhelmed with optimism, joy and gratitude. Because of you we will continue and thrive.
With gratitude,
Elease
