Anita was born and raised in Chile. From an early age and to this day, she has always enjoyed learning different styles of dance such as Ballet, Modern/Contemporary Dance, Latin Ballroom (Samba, Chacha, Rumba and Paso Doble) Salsa, Bachata, and West African dance. She graduated at the Conservatory Izidor Handler in the Department of Contemporary Dance (Graham and Leeder technique). She has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity with a concentration in Health from University of Playa Ancha.

She is a dancer for the H2O Dance Company, run by Artistic Director Rebekah Brown and Accipiter Dance Artistic Director Brianna Pilkinton.

Anita shares: “Since I remember I have always loved to dance. I would never walk but always dance, which I still do. My mom used to sing to me and I would love to dance for her. Dance for me feels like breathing…always there and so necessary to live.

I teach because I love to share. I love to see humans connect deep emotions with their body. I love to be present in those magical and honest moments that we can find in dance.

Make your movements mindful. No matter how fast or slow, big or small, make it always with a purpose: to be happy, to let it go, to express frustration, do not let the movements become just a simple count or exercise.

I want MBDY members to feel motivated so they will make the effort to come back and make dance part of their lives. I want dance to become a necessity for them, a must!, a big part of who they are. I also want them to feel happy with getting out of their comfort zone to further discover how amazing their dance and expressions are.

I am 43 years old, and am from Chile. I am the mother of Lucca, a mother of cats, and am married to the kindest men that I ever met in my life. I am forever grateful for the good things in life.

I like to save snails after the rain. I put them away in the grass… I hate when people step on them.”
