Afro Dance Workshop with Solange

This workshop will blend several styles of energies to create a unique style of Afro class. From influences of Afrobeats, AfroHouse and West African traditional Dance Styles, it is a fun, motivating dance class syncopating movements to various styles of African music.

In this workshop, you will develop creative movements, improve mobility, strength, flexibility, coordination and sense of rhythm. You will learn a routine based on the exercises developed from the warm up.

African music and rhythm is an important aspect of the class. We believe African music can inspire our soul.

About Solange Ah:

Raised in Paris from Beninese parents in West Africa, Solange began to appreciate dance at the age of 7 in ballet. A short time after, she migrated into modern jazz and contemporary studying with European instructors for 15 years.

At the age of 20, she became a founding member of a dance company called "Embiance," a fusion of afro, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary and performed across Europe for 5 years.

At the age of 25, Solange moved to the United States and settled in North Carolina where she began her passion for teaching African dances, especially Afrobeats and AfroHouse dance styles. Since then, she has taught at various African dance festivals across North America, South America and Africa.

Today, located in San Diego, she continues to share and spread her contagious energy with her Afrobeats and AfroHouse workshops all over North America.
