Welcome to West African Dance with King Daunté! In this workshop, we will embark on a rhythmic journey through the vibrant and energetic world of West African dance.
Throughout the workshop, you will learn the fundamental movements, techniques, and cultural context of various West African dance styles, including dances from countries such as Senegal, Guinea, Mali, and Côte d’Ivoire to name a few!
King Daunté’s experience will guide you through a series of warm-up exercises, body isolations, footwork patterns, and dynamic choreography. You will also have the opportunity to explore the rich history and significance of West African dance, as well as its connection to music and storytelling.
Whether you are a complete beginner or have some prior dance experience, this class is designed to accommodate all skill levels. We believe that dance is a universal language that transcends barriers, and our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can express themselves through movement.

About Daunté “KINGTAE” Fyall:
Daunté “Kingtae” Fyall has been studying West African dance since childhood with KanKouran West African Dance Company based in Washington, D.C. and directed by Assane Konte of Senegal. He currently facilitates West African Dance workshops and lectures within the Southern California region and he instructs the only Donation-Based Traditional West African Dance Class in the City of Los Angeles under his community-based organization: DAANSEKOU.
